A new report by the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) shows that Anchorage is at a 6-year high for unemployment. AEDC President Bill Popp joined Daybreak on Thursday to break down the report.

Popp also talked about the industries hit the hardest over the last few years. He stated that retail was down about 400 jobs last year alone and business services, such as architects and designers, was down as well.

As far as projected growth, Popp was optimistic in relation to tourism and health care; he believes that those industries will stand to grow over the next year.
