Seward’s one-person DMV office will be closed for a second day Tuesday, as local officials work on staffing issues.

According to Brenda Ballou, Seward's city clerk, the DMV office will be closed due to its sole employee calling in sick. In Seward, the office is operated by Seward police and staffed by the city, but its one employee has been sick this week.

“Due to recent staff turnover, coupled with coordinating with the state’s DMV training schedule, we’ve had a delay in getting a backup person trained,” Ballou wrote in an email. “There is someone in place now, and they will be attending the week-long DMV training next week in Anchorage, so we’ll be back to full staff.”
