This weekend, a symposium by the Alaska Woodturners Association will take a place. Whether you are a woodturning pro or are looking to start, the event will be an educational experience for all attendees.

Woodturning is the art of turning wood into art and practical objects, such as eatery or furniture, using a machine that rotates the wood rapidly -- allowing you to cut and mold it to your desire.

The symposium is Saturday, Jan. 27, and Sunday, Jan. 28 starting at 8 a.m. at Hardware Specialties in Anchorage. Tickets are $50 a day if you pre-register, or $60 at the door.
