A woman died near Golovin early Tuesday in the crash of her all-terrain vehicle, Alaska State Troopers said.

Word of the rollover wreck which killed 47-year-old Golovin resident Rachel Olson reached AST just before 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to an online dispatch. Nome-based troopers responded to investigate.

Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said that Olson hadn’t been wearing a helmet in the crash.

“When she didn't get home, they went out looking for her and they found the wreck,” Peters said.

Olson’s next of kin have been notified, and her body will undergo an autopsy at the state medical examiner’s office in Anchorage.
