Alaska State Troopers say one person died Friday night near the interchange of the Glenn and Parks highways, after what emergency authorities described as a fatal fall.

According to an online dispatch, troopers responded just before 7 p.m. Friday to “a report of an unresponsive adult male” near the interchange.

“Investigation revealed the male died after life-saving measures were attempted by [emergency medical services],” troopers wrote. “Efforts to locate his next of kin are underway and the [state medical examiner’s office] responded for his remains.”

Ken Barkley, the Mat-Su Borough’s deputy chief of emergency services, deferred most questions about the death to troopers.

"All we know is he fell off the bridge and was a fatality," Barkley said.

Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters couldn’t provide any further information on the incident Saturday, pending completion of an autopsy next week.
