Girdwood's Messing reaches Canadian podium for first time
Girdwood's Keegan Messing is officially punching a ticket to the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Messing competed this weekend at the Canadian National Skating Championships, capturing a silver medal with a combined score of 259.25.
On Friday night Messing impressed judges in his short program performance to "Singing in the Rain", receiving 85.65 points. That was good for a third place ranking heading into Saturday's free skate competition.
On Sunday morning (Alaska time), the Canadian Olympic Committee made the announcement saying Messing would represent Canada in Pyeongchang.
