A minor crossing the street was struck by an on-duty Anchorage Police officer Friday afternoon.

Around 3, APD and medical personnel were called to the intersection of Boniface Parkway and Debarr Road on reports of a pedestrian accident involving a vehicle.

According to Nora Morse, spokesperson for APD, the on-duty officer was traveling southbound on Boniface in the right lane when a juvenile with an unleashed dog ran into oncoming traffic from the median. 

The officer struck the juvenile with his marked patrol unit.

The juvenile, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital with injuries police described as serious but not life-threatening. 

Morse says the dog was not injured.

The collision remains under investigations. As of this writing, no citations had been issued.

Southbound Boniface reopened to motorists around 5.
