One family's Denali dream
Next month, a one-of-a-kind mountain lodge will open.
The Sheldon Chalet is wedged in the wilderness, nestled in a national park, about 10 miles from the summit of Denali.
You have to take an airplane and then transfer to a helicopter to get there.
The flights, along with gourmet meals and luxury accommodations, are included in the cost -- about $2,300 a night.
The chalet has been three generations in the making, starting with a five-acre homestead, which Don Sheldon, a pioneer pilot, claimed in the 1950s.
This week on Frontiers, a look at how one family’s Denali dream came to fruition – a story as remarkable as the chalet itself.
Here’s a preview of Sunday’s show, which airs on January 7, at 4:30 and 10:30 p.m. on KTVA, Channel 11.
