A 30-year-old woman died on New Year’s Eve, according to Alaska State Troopers, when her snowmachine crashed on a lake near Delta Junction.

Word of the wreck that killed Wasilla resident Breanna Klann reached troopers at about 11:30 p.m., according to Alaska State Troopers. The crash took place on Volkmar Lake, about 15 miles northeast of Delta Junction.

“Investigation revealed [Klann] was operating a snowmachine near a cabin when she lost control and collided with a tree,” troopers wrote. “Critical care steps were taken to revive Breanna; however (they) were unsuccessful.”

Klann’s next of kin have been notified, troopers said, and the collision is under investigation.
