Anchorage’s first child of 2018 is a girl born at about 2 a.m. Monday, according to local hospital officials.

The Alaska Native Medical Center announced on its Facebook page that St. Paul Island residents Rene and Richard Warner’s daughter, Valya, “made her appearance” at 2:07 a.m.

“Congratulations to the Warner family and St. Paul Island from everyone at the Alaska Native Medical Center!” ANMC staff wrote.

Staff at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson’s hospital said their first child of the year was delivered at 3:39 a.m.

Providence Alaska Medical Center spokesman Mikal Canfield said Providence’s first baby was born at 8:40 a.m.

Kjerstin Lastufka, a spokeswoman for Alaska Regional Hospital, said that hospital’s first baby of the year was a girl delivered at 10:50 a.m.
