Alaska State Troopers say an Anchorage woman arrested Monday morning in Soldotna sexually assaulted a young child in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Troopers said in an online dispatch that they were called at about 4:30 a.m. to a Soldotna residence where they arrested 54-year-old Laura Kroto.

“Investigation revealed [Kroto] had sexual contact with a 9-year-old female during the early morning hours,” troopers wrote. “Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in this incident.”

Kroto was taken into custody on two counts of sexual abuse of a minor, and held at the Wildwood Pretrial Facility.
