A woman was injured early Saturday in a single-vehicle rollover near Potter Marsh, which Anchorage police slowed traffic on the Seward Highway for hours.

APD sent out an initial alert at about 4 a.m. Saturday that the Seward was closed by the crash, about half a mile south of the weigh station near Potter Marsh.

The injured woman was the only occupant of the 1999 Toyota four-door sedan, police spokesman MJ Thim said in an email.

“(The sedan) hit the rock wall and burst into flames,” Thim wrote. “She was transported to a local hospital.”

Medics took the drive to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One lane of the highway had reopened by 5:30 a.m., and the highway was fully reopened by 7 a.m.

The cause of the crash was under investigation Saturday, Thim said.
