Tips for wiping data clean for personal safety
If you get a new tech toy this holiday season, such as a computer or phone, you may want to sell your old one.
Before you make the sale, make sure your devices are completely cleared of all personal data, because whoever you sell it to will have full access to a lot of your personal information.
Cell phones are the easiest as far as being easy to wipe clean. Whether it is Apple or Samsung, there are ways to reset or clear your phone from right inside of the setting of your phone.
Computers, on the other hand, are a bit tricky. Those require a full factory reset and may even benefit from downloading specialized software to clean the hard drive. Sometimes it even helps to wipe it multiple times. If you want to completely destroy your hard drive, do not just destroy your computer, remove the hard drive and destroy it separately.
If you have questions or need assistance cleaning your data from an electronic device, you can always reach Device Pitstop in Anchorage on Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
