For wrestlers in the Cook Inlet Conference, the road to the ASAA state tournament went through Chugiak. Chugiak High School played host to the 2017 Region IV tournament, which featured wrestlers from the eight large schools in the greater Anchorage area.

South Anchorage High hoisted the team trophy on Saturday, seeing 12 athletes crowned region champions. The Wolverines totaled 508.5 points, almost 300 more than second-place Eagle River which earned 225 points. West Anchorage High finished third.

The ASAA state wrestling tournament takes place Dec. 15-16, at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage.
