One person died and another was injured in a crash on the Glenn Highway near Palmer Saturday afternoon, with closed lanes of the highway since reopened.

The single-vehicle wreck, on the Glenn Highway outbound near the Old Glenn Highway, was first reported shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday according to APD spokesman MJ Thim.

"The driver of a white Chevy Blazer drove into a ditch," Thim wrote in a statement. "An adult male was found deceased at the scene. An adult female was driven to the hospital by a friend with a leg injury."

Thim said the man and the woman, who was taken to the hospital before officers arrived, were the only two people in the Blazer. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, although police haven't yet determined which person was driving at the time.

One northbound and southbound lane of the Glenn had been closed in the area, but had reopened by 6 p.m.
