A dense fog advisory was issued Friday afternoon for the Anchorage Bowl and several surrounding cities.

The National Weather Service issued the advisory around 4:30 Friday afternoon, which is in effect until noon Saturday. The advisory includes the cities of Anchorage, Eagle River, Indian and Eklutna.

Visibility is expected to be a quarter of a mile or less at times, the NWS says, and the fog may cause very difficult driving conditions.

The fog advisory comes as an added hazard for drivers, as much of the area has experienced freezing rain in the last 24 hours, leaving roadways extremely slick.

Motorists are advised to slow down, use your headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
