Woman wounded in Mountain View apartment shooting
Anchorage police are seeking a person of interest in a Mountain View shooting which left a woman wounded late Thursday.
Police spokesman MJ Thim said police were called to the 200 block of Meyer Street just before 9:45 p.m.
“The preliminary investigation found that there was an altercation outside an apartment building,” Thim wrote. “After the altercation, an adult female was shot in the torso inside an apartment. The suspect shot her from outside a window.”
The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, and the suspect ran from the scene.
It wasn’t clear whether the victim and suspect knew each other, Thim said. Investigators have received “a lot of conflicting information” from witnesses, but think the shooting wasn't random.
“At this point, we believe that she was the intended target,” Thim said.
A statement on the case included a photo of a man who was seen walking near the building at the time of the shooting, saying “has information related to this crime.” Police said the man was wearing “light colored pants, dark jacket, dark hat, backpack with light blue/teal straps and possibly a scarf.”
Anyone with information on the case or the man’s whereabouts is asked to call APD at 907-786-8900, or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 907-561-STOP or through its website.
