South Anchorage High School senior Hanbit Yi is a renaissance man. He's also the KTVA Sports Scholar Athlete of the Week.

Not only is Yi a varsity defenseman for the perennial state contender Wolverines, but he also earned First Chair All-State at this year's ASAA music festival. Passionate about playing cello and playing hockey, Yi gets it done in the classroom as well.

"I have planned on applying to different colleges in different states," said Yi. "Maybe studying abroad. Taking music as a career maybe, maybe playing hockey in college".

One thing is for sure, his academic accomplishments will catch the eye of any university he applies to. Yi currently maintains a 4.2-grade point average, while taking college-level courses.

South hockey assistant coach Matt Thompson had high praise for Yi, "(A) very hard worker. Great leader on our team, even without a letter. Always comes to practice every day hard. Super nice guy, everyone loves him. Awesome guy to have in the locker room and on the ice."

In the classroom, on the ice, and in the concert hall, Hanbit Yi is a talented young man that inspires his fellow classmates and teammates.
