Tears and prayers were shared Wednesday night outside of the home where police say a young boy fatally shot himself with a gun he found early Tuesday morning.

Dozens of people showed up to honor the life of 5-year-old Christian Johnson at a candlelight vigil held by his family. As they huddled around the front porch, everyone bowed their heads and began to pray. Shortly after, someone began to sing "Jesus Loves the Little Children". One-by-one others began to join in.

Hand-in-hand, attendees had either a candle or red balloon with messages for Christian written on them. Towards the end of the vigil, the group counted to three and released the balloons, showering the sky in red with many shouting out, "I love you, Christian."
