The death of an Anchorage man near Jim Creek in the Mat-Su is being investigated as a homicide, with few details about the case initially available from Alaska State Troopers.

An online dispatch identified the man found Saturday as 36-year-old Weston Gladney. The remains were reported to troopers at about 3:20 p.m. that afternoon.

“The death is being investigated as a homicide,” troopers wrote. “Gladney was found deceased by a person recreating on a trail near Sullivan Avenue and Caudill Road.”

Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said no further details were being released on the case Tuesday morning.

Gladney’s next of kin have been notified. His body was sent to the state medical examiner's office in Anchorage for an autopsy.

Anyone with information on Gladney's death is asked to call Palmer troopers at 907-352-5401.
