A Mountain View argument between roommates that ended in an injury shooting Tuesday morning sent officers and medics to a home filled with witnesses and bear spray, police said.

Word of the shooting, on the 3700 block of Richmond Avenue, reached police at about 10:15 a.m. Tuesday according to police spokesman MJ Thim.

“The preliminary investigation has found that two adult males were inside a residence having a domestic dispute about their living situation,” Thim wrote.

During the dispute, the victim used bear spray on the suspect, who police identified as 35-years-old Zanders Herndon, according to Thim.

The victim was shot in the lower body and was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, in what Thim said was an “isolated incident.” Herndon was arrested and taken to jail after being questioned by detectives.

According to Thim, the men weren’t alone at the time of the exchange.

“There was other people that lived there -- it was a townhouse style residence,” Thim said.

No other suspects are being sought in the shooting, Thim said.

Herndon faces multiple charges including assault and misconduct involving weapons.
