Bobbi Olson has been a volunteer with the GCI Great Alaska Shootout since its inception in 1978. Bobbi and her husband Jim have not missed a Shootout in the 40 years of tournament play, from humble beginnings at Buckner Field House on Fort Richardson to the Alaska Airlines Center on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus.

With the final Shootout upon us, Olson sat down with KTVA to discuss her experience and what the future may hold.

The Shootout changed the landscape of college hoops. One of only three pre-season tournaments when it started, there are now nearly 64. The tournament has played host to college basketball's elite and future Hall of Famers.

Olson took basketball royalty into her home and introduced teams from across the nation to Alaska's people and culture. Her dedication to UAA and the Shootout led to her being named its first female chair in 1991, eventually earning an induction into the Seawolf Hall of Fame in 2017.

Editor's note: GCI is the parent company of KTVA.
