Man wounded, suspect held in Spenard-area shooting
A man was wounded Wednesday afternoon in a shooting near Spenard Road according to Anchorage police, who say a suspect turned himself in soon afterward.
A call came in to police dispatchers just after 1:30 p.m. from “a male who stated he had shot someone,” according to a statement from police spokeswoman Renee Oistad.
Officers responded to Determine Design, at 903 W. Northern Lights Boulevard east of Spenard Road, and took the caller into custody. A man with a gunshot wound to his torso, who was found inside the business, was taken to a local hospital by medics for treatment.
“Initial indications are that this was not a random event,” Oistad wrote. “More details will be released once facts in the case are confirmed.”
Oistad wasn't immediately able to answer further questions Wednesday afternoon about the nature of the shooting, or any relationship between the victim and suspect.
