Zoey Keene of South Anchorage High School is set for college. The senior volleyball star will attend the University of Alaska Fairbanks next fall, and her scholarship reflects her diversity.

Two-thirds of Keene's scholarship qualifies as athletic, while the other third will be via academics. Decorated with a handful of athletic awards, she also carries a 4.3 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Keene signed her letter of intent before a large gathering in the South High school library. While she had other options for school, she knew becoming part of the Nanooks was the right move.

"It was a sense of community and family that I got visiting them. No other team made me feel welcomed like that." she said. "I just fit right in with them."

Keene lettered in volleyball three times but has excelled in track and field too. She has four letters with that program.
