John Lewis has picked up 81 wins as head coach of the South Anchorage football team.

Throw in three state titles, the last in 2014, and it's been a pretty good journey for Lewis.

The journey has ended, as Lewis told KTVA Sports he resigned as the Wolverines' head coach.

"I think it's time for a different look, I think for the kids, it's a different voice, I've been doing everything there since day one, I'm ready for new challenges, but, at this time, it's time for South to get a new look," Lewis said.

The Wolverines finished 2-6 this season, 1-4 in the Cook Inlet Conference.

The search is underway for Lewis' replacement.

He remains at the school as the head coach of the track and field teams.
