Reducing the Risk of Alzheimer's through Dancing
This month is Alzheimer's awareness month, and one Anchorage dance studio is encouraging seniors to dance away dementia. We were joined by Cheryl Jones with Fred Astaire Dance Studio, as well as Tom and Elaine Reel, two students of Cheryl's.
A big reason, Cheryl says, dancing works for helping keep the brain functioning strongly is due to the amount of memorization and focus it requires.
"Dancing isn;t just physical, there's a lot of mental requirements that go into it", said Cheryl.
You are encouraged to stop by Fred Astaire Dance Studio to do some dancing, or check them out at fredastaire.com/anchorage.
