Hepa off to the Lonestar State; signs with University of Texas
Kamaka Hepa is one of the nation's top collegiate basketball prospects. Recruiters should not expect the Barrow native to return their calls.
Hepa, who is a senior at Portland's Jefferson High School, signed his National Letter of Intent Friday to play at the University of Texas. It came about a week after Hepa announced his commitment to the Longhorns.
"I really enjoy the recruiting process, but I wanted to finish it out and focus on my high school career and finish off my last year of high school without any worries," Hepa told KTVA Sports by phone from his home in Portland.
He won a state title last season with Jefferson High School, he won back-to-back titles before that at Barrow High School, where he also won Gatorade Player of the Year honors.
