Anchorage police are asking for the public's help to locate a man who threatened an Ace Hardware employee with a knife after he tried stealing from the store Monday.

Anchorage Police Department spokesperson MJ Thim says at 11:43 a.m., a caller reported the armed robbery at the store located at 240 Muldoon Road. When the adult male tried to drive away, he was unable to do so because he dropped his keys and ended up fleeing on foot.

Police describe him as a white male in his 30s with a short red and brown beard and a "lazy" right eye. He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat, black zip-up sweatshirt jacket, a white undershirt and blue jeans.

The green 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, he tried to flee from the scene in, was impounded as evidence.

Anyone with information, including surveillance video is asked to contact police at 786-8900. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP.
