Anchorage Police say a few of their own stopped a bar fight before it escalated into a shooting overnight downtown.

Around 1:30. Anchorage Police say four adult males were involved in an altercation in front of 49th State Brewing Company on 3rd Avenue. During the altercation, authorities say one of the men struck another with a crowbar.

That's when, police say, the struck male pulled a handgun and another man pulled out a hammer.

"Officers, recognizing the public safety threat of a shooting, commanded everyone to drop their weapons," APD spokesman MJ Thim wrote.

All four men were taken into custody for questioning, and two men were arrested and taken to the Anchorage Jail.

APD identified the suspect with the crowbar as Trevaughn Bradley, 22; he's charged with third-degree assault.

Rodney Epps, 40, was identified as the suspect with the handgun; he's charged with two weapons misconduct charges, including felon in possession.
