The second-longest active winning streak in the nation now sits at 59 straight victories. The Soldotna Stars defeated Palmer 21-0 on Saturday to win the Division 2 First National Bowl state championship.

The two programs that faced off have seen much success, as Palmer's Rod Christiansen in now the winningest head coach in Alaska history and SoHi's Galen Brantley was competing for a sixth straight championship. A defensive battle, Soldotna led 14-0 at the half thanks to rushing scores from senior Brenner Furlong and sophomore Aaron Faletoi.

There were no offensive touchdowns in the second half, but senior Cody Quelland came up with a huge pick-six in the fourth quarter to help secure a Stars victory. For the sixth straight year, the Soldotna Stars are state champions.
