Police name boy killed by backing SUV in south Anchorage
Anchorage police have named the 4-year-old boy fatally struck Monday by an SUV, as officers investigate the parking-lot collision that killed him.
The parents of Carlito Allen Ramos asked police to release Carlito Allen Ramos’ name Tuesday, according to a statement from APD spokesman MJ Thim. Ramos was pronounced dead after he was hit at about 3 p.m. on the 12500 block of Silver Fox Lane, off Huffman Road near the Old Seward Highway.
“He had two brothers and one sister,” Thim wrote. “He was the youngest.”
Ramos was behind a 2015 Dodge SUV that was backing out of a parking space and struck him, according to police. Thim said Wednesday that the SUV had not been fitted with a backup camera.
Thim said the SUV's driver, who helped take Ramos to a local hospital, remained at the hospital and has cooperated with police. No charges have been filed in the case, which police said appeared to be an accident Monday.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with funeral expenses.
