Free event aims to inform Alaskans on state fiscal situation
The Alaska legislature will reconvene this month for its fourth special session this year, with the goal of trying to solve the states fiscal problem. Thursday, there will be a free, open round-table discussion for the public. Cliff Groh of Alaska Common Ground joined Daybreak to discuss the event.
"This is a free public event on the state's biggest problem, our very, very substantial gap between our revenues and expenditures," said Groh of the event named Choosing our Future: Alaska's Fiscal Options.
The round-table will include experts to help explain the facts and options available to the state. There will also be two panel discussions composed of community leaders, government officials, legislators and the commissioner of revenue. The audience will have the chance to ask questions as well.
It is Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 49th State Brewing Company.
