From Mustang to Bobcat: Snell headed to Montana State
National signing day is four months away. Derryk Snell has already made his decision. On Monday, the Chugiak standout announced his verbal commitment to play football at Division 1 Montana State on Twitter.
The Bobcats, part of the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, have a long history. The program began in 1897 winning three national titles. Seven times since 1984 they qualified for the playoffs but six of those appearances have come in the last 15 seasons. The most recent was in 2012. The campus is located in Bozeman.
Snell's play has generated a great deal of interest. His 32 touchdowns this season have helped head coach Roger Spackman's Mustangs to a perfect 8-0 record, a Railbelt title and a number one ranking in Alaska's division 1. Last week against Colony he scored four times amassing 242 total yards.
He can formalize it on February 7, the official signing day.
