A Soldotna man has been charged with the sexual abuse of three minors over a five-year period.

According to Alaska State Troopers, 29-year-old Donald Tresness was arrested Tuesday and charged with four counts of first-degree sexual assault of a minor and three counts of second-degree sexual assault of a minor.

DPS spokesperson, Megan Peters, says the investigation into Tresness began in mid-June after troopers received a report that Tressness had sexually assaulted a minor between 2007 and 2012. The investigation revealed three local victims, ages 6 to 11, Peters says, and more victims are possible in the Soldotna/Kenai area.

Tresness reportedly affirmed the allegations made by his three accusers.

Peters says Tresness was known to each of the victims and was a trusted adult who had access to juvenile victims but would not elaborate further.

"Based on this case and previous convictions for similar behavior in another state (Washington), it is reasonable to believe there are other victims," Peters said.

Tresness was arraigned Wednesday and is being held without bail at the Wildwood Pretrial facility in Kenai.

Anyone with information about this case or the possibility of other potential victims is asked to call Alaska State Troopers immediately.
