Experienced bearder, Doug Renfro, took ninth place out of 107 participants at the 2017 World Beard and Moustache Championships held this year in Austin, Texas.

He joined Daybreak on the couch to talk about his experience at the competition, which is held every two years.

Renfro was born and raised in Anchorage and entered his first beard competition when the WBMC came to Alaska in 2009. It just so happened that Renfro took first place that year in the Girabaldi category.

Since then, he's gone on to win multiple "Mr. Fur Face" titles at the Miner's and Trapper's Charity Ball, multiple "Mr. Sourdough" titles at the state fair among other beard accolades and adventures. He's currently vice president of the South Central Alaska Beard and Moustache Club.

The Austin Facial Hair Club organized this year's WBMC.
