Troopers apprehended two men they say were attempting to break-in to a tool rental business in Sterling.

Just before midnight Thursday, troopers were tipped off to suspicious activity at Sterling Tool Rental. Upon their arrival, troopers say 29-year-old Zachary Boyle, of Soldotna, and 25-year-old John Devries, of Palmer, were attempting to break-in to the business.

Both Boyle and Devries fled into the woods but were apprehended a short time later, according to AST.

Boyle was arrested and charged with second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, driving under the influence, first-degree criminal trespass, second-degree attempted burglary and fourth-degree attempted theft. Boyle is held without bail.

Devries was also arrested and charged with first-degree criminal trespass, second-degree attempted burglary and fourth-degree attempted theft.

Both Boyle and Devries were booked into the Wildwood Pretrial Facility; their vehicle was towed from the scene.
