Cody Quaylon's star is rising. As a major cog in the Soldotna Stars' success, the senior running back/linebacker provides plenty of leadership and strong play on the field. But his priorities are the books.

"We've got to put student first, without good grades we wouldn't be out here playing football," he said.

He has big aspirations. He hopes his next stop will be Colorado Springs and the United States Air Force Academy.

"I feel like I have an obligation to serve my country and I feel it's the best opportunity for both my career and education opportunities," he said.

His head coach Galen Brantley Jr. loves having him on the team.

"He understands he's a student athlete. School is going to take him to the next level," said Brantley.

Quaylon is well on his way. He sports a 4.0-grade point average and is a member of the National Honor Society.
