Seawolves look ahead, see bright future
UAA hockey is in a drought. The Seawolves are searching for a magic formula to get their program turned around and back into the post season. They believe 2017-18 is the time.
2014 was the last time they found themselves playing in late March. At media day at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex, Head Coach Matt Thomas said the roster has been upgraded and fans should expect this group to contend.
"We've become a more mobile team on our blue line, guys who have a little offensive elements to their game, and I think we became a bigger team. You know, we recruited some size," he said.
The team was on the ice Wednesday. Official training camp opens Monday for a group which was rumored to be on the chopping block last year due to budget cuts. That didn't happen and now everyone is moving forward.
