Harvesting Alaska: Turning beets into ice cream
Elissa Brown is with the Wild Scoops ice cream shop, and she's excited about a new flavor they've been using for their ice cream: Roasted Beet.
Elissa helped create the flavor in the WIld Scoops' test kitchen. She says that the natural sweetness of Alaska-grown beets really helps to give it a sweet, pleasant flavor.
The unique flavor is available for the next few weeks at both the Wild Scoops' stand at the South Anchorage Farmers' Market on Saturdays and at their shop in downtown Anchorage.
