Man in custody after leading police on high-speed chase
Anchorage Police say a man involved in a domestic disturbance is now in custody after he crashed his car during a police chase in east Anchorage Sunday afternoon.
APD says around 1:34 p.m. they responded to a physical disturbance near East 4th Avenue and Bolin Street after receiving multiple calls from neighbors saying they heard a gunshot and saw an adult male assaulting and pushing a female into an car, which took off towards Muldoon Road.
Police say they located the vehicle in the area of Debarr and Muldoon with the female still in the back seat. When they tried to stop the car, the suspected failed to do so and began to elude the officers.
An APD officer on scene told KTVA the car lost control and crashed outside the Admirals' Cove apartment homes complex.
Police were able to stop the vehicle, arrest the male suspect and recover the female safely, according to APD spokesperson Nora Morse.
Police say the suspect was taken into custody on assault, kidnapping charges and eluding the police.
