Alaska State Troopers say a driver was killed in a crash near Cantwell on the Parks Highway late Tuesday, the second Anchorage woman to die on the highway within a few hours that evening.

Amanda Fleming, 32, was killed in a wreck near Mile 206 of the highway, troopers said in an online dispatch. Reports of the wreck reached troopers just after 7:30 p.m.

“[Fleming,] driving a 2002 Toyota 4Runner, was southbound on the Parks when the vehicle left the roadway (and) rolled approximately three times, causing the driver to be ejected,” troopers wrote.

Fleming was declared dead by Cantwell medics when they arrived. Her next of kin have been notified.

A passenger in the 4Runner, 27-year-old Colorado resident James Guandolo, was taken to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

A few hours after Fleming’s death, 25-year-old Charlene Peterson was killed when the Toyota truck she was driving near Mile 325 of the Parks rolled over. Troopers responded to that wreck, also southbound along the highway, at about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday.
