A man working at a Juvenile detention center was sent to the hospital after an inmate beat him with a chair, according to Trooper Dispatch.

Troopers say they responded to the Johnson Youth Center in Juneau around 9:30 Saturday night, after receiving a report of an assault. Further investigation revealed the 51-year-old employee was hit over the head with a chair multiple times by a 17-year-old male inmate.

The employee was taken to the Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment.

Assault charges will be submitted pending the completion of the investigation, Troopers say.
