Fury Rondy and Iditarod aren’t the only events scheduled this weekend. Whiskey and Blues take over the Dena’ina Center Saturday, March 7. Blues musician Marquise Knox will perform while a whiskey connoisseur shares his knowledge of single-malt whiskeys during the nosing and tasting presentation.

“Normally you get a nosing glass, like a little tulip, [and] nose it,” said Andy Holmes, a whiskey connoisseur of more than 30 years. “Keeping the correlation between your nose and pallet, take a little sip — feel that going around the mouth and afterwards, just three drops of water, [to] open up all those flavors. Gorgeous sensation in your mouth.”

Holmes will present six whiskeys while attendees can enjoy the music of Marquise Knox. Knox performed a preview of his show for a Mic Check in the Morning.
