Her musical influences include artists from Simon and Garfunkel to Taylor Swift. Twelve-year-old Ava Earl is a singer-songwriter from Girdwood who has a sound that’s all her own.

It all started when her parents convinced her to play the guitar. Ava also plays the piano, ukulele and harmonica.

She may be young, but she has already released an album, “Chronicles of a Best Friend,” with folk and indie rock songs. Friday she joined Daybreak for a Mic Check in the Morning.

Ava will perform at the Blueberry Festival Sunday, Aug. 9 at the Alyeska Resort in Girdwood from noon – 1 p.m. and again at 2:45 – 3:30 p.m.
