It’s music sure to remind listeners of a time when the Foo Fighters and Incubus topped the rock charts in the 1990s. Singer-songwriter Derek Dean, of Anchorage, has been in local bands such as Easyhead and the Moonracers. Now, he’s doing it all solo, releasing his newest album “Tilad,” which stands for “treat it like a dream.”

He joined Daybreak Friday for a Mic Check in the Morning, where he performed “Afterthought” and “Heard it All.” Both songs can be found on “Tilad.”

Dean’s CD release party kicks off Feb. 4 at Chilkoot Charlie’s at 8 p.m.
