He’s known as a one-man band who’s a beast on the bass guitar.

Milo Matthews performed on Daybreak’s Mic Check in the Morning Friday ahead of his evening performance at LED Ultra Lounge and Grill. Anchorage is the final stop on his most recent Alaska tour.

Matthews uses a drum pad, effects pedal and a looping machine to provide his own rhythm. His love for the bass guitar was actually inspired by a Canadian rock band, Matthews said.

“I heard the band Rush,” Matthews said. “And it really inspired me to pick up the bass, and then everything else just came — all the history of what I was raised with, all the funk and soul, R&B.”
