A woman from the Southeast Alaska community of Kake died late Tuesday, Alaska State Troopers said, following an incident which is currently under investigation.

Word that 19-year-old Jade Williams “was found not breathing at her residence in Kake” reached troopers just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to an online dispatch posted Thursday.

“Kake [emergency medical services] responded and transported Ms. Williams to the SEARHC Clinic where she was pronounced deceased,” troopers wrote. “It was reported the death was suspicious.”

Investigating troopers weren’t able to fly into Kake, about 40 miles northwest of Petersburg, until late Wednesday afternoon due to poor weather.

No further detail on why Williams' death was reportedly suspicious was available from troopers Thursday morning, according to spokeswoman Megan Peters.
