Some out shopping this weekend took advantage of some great deals at the Body Shop at the Fifth Avenue Mall and Dimond Center, then turned around and donated their savings to the Clare House.

The Clare House, run by Catholic Social Services, is an emergency shelter open to mothers and their children. The Diamond Girls Riding Club was at the stores collecting donations to make gift baskets for the women of Clare House for Valentine’s Day.

Tiffany Karling Hunt said the group wants to give back, and that it’s important for all women to feel special.

“Our goal is to take merchandise that has been donated and actually put together really nice gift bags with some toiletries, you know, some chocolates, just to make it special, just to make them feel better about an otherwise not-so-great day for them,” Karling Hunt said. “A lot of these women are victims of domestic violence, you know, single parents.”

Karling Hunt said the Diamond Girls Riding Club is about helping women find their strength. They will be accepting donations at both locations of the body shop through Sunday evening.
