Anchorage police have confirmed that one person is dead after a rollover car crash at the intersection of C Street and Dimond Boulevard early Friday morning.
APD and the Anchorage Fire Department responded Friday around 3:30 a.m. to a report of a collision.
Police at the scene said the car had been traveling at high speed going south on C Street. It had gone through the intersection at Dimond Boulevard and hit a pole, then flipped multiple times and caught fire with the driver still inside the car.
According to police, the driver was the only person in the vehicle. Due to the severity of the crash, they have not been able to figure out the make or model of the car.
Police closed the intersection as they investigated the cause of the crash and advised people to take alternate routes. The road has since been reopened.
