ANCHORAGE — The search for an Army National Guardsman, who has been missing for nearly a week, was suspended early Wednesday evening, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Nephi Soper, 26, was dropped off at the Prospect Heights trailhead Thursday evening. No one has seen him since, but he was expected to return to base the following night, according to troopers.

Search and rescue crews have been looking for Soper by foot and by air for five days. Trooper spokesperson Beth Ipsen said the search could resume if any clues of Soper’s whereabouts turn up.
